PATRICK COUNTY CITIZEN ALERT

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING WITH THE PATRICK COUNTY CITIZEN ALERT SYSTEM BY EVERBRIDGE.

Click on the link above.  You will be asked to create a username and password.  Keep this information for future updates.  Under "My Alerts", be sure to click the box in front of "Community Alerts".  This will ensure that you will receive specific messages from Patrick County rather than automated notifications. There is no need to choose categories under "Community Alerts."

At the "Patrick County Weather & Hazard Alerts", do NOT check the box beside the name.  Click on the +  icon for each individual category that you want to receive alerts. Do NOT check any boxes. Only select the weather alerts that you want to receive, or you will quickly find yourself annoyed by too many alerts. Before clicking on "Save and Continue", scroll to the top of the page.  On the right side of the page under "Weather and Alert settings", check the box "Don't contact me between", then choose the time.  If nothing is chosen, you will receive alerts throughout the night. Scroll back down to the bottom of the page and click on "Save and Continue."

On the next page, "My Information,"  check the box to list any special needs you may have, volunteer skills you possess, and if you own a business, you can list business characteristics.  Click "Save and Continue." Next, you will be able to review your information and alerts chosen.  If you need to change anything, choose edit,  "Save and Continue", then Finish..

When you complete your information, choose "Logout" at the top left side of the screen.

If you know someone that does not have access to a computer and would like to sign up for Alerts, please contact Steve Allen at 276.694.4940 or Denise Stirewalt @ 276.694.8367.

ADVISORY vs. WATCH vs. WARNING

Advisory- Advisories are issued when events are expected to remain below the warning criteria, but still cause significant inconvenience.

Watch - A Watch tells you that conditions are favorable and there is a pretty good chance that the event may happen.

Warning - A warning means that a certain event is IMMINENT. Measures should be taken to safeguard life and property.
